Have I Got Shrews for You

The KissIt’s that time of year again… cartoonists from all over the country (and the world) will be converging in Shropshire  next week for the Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival. Despite my small triumph last year when I sold a cartoon – The Kiss – in one of the exhibitions, I’m not on the ‘official’ list. I will be busy though, as, along with Matt Buck and Royston Robertson, I’ll be blogging for Bloghorn, the blog of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation. Highlights include exhibitions by Steve Bell from the Guardian, Kate Charlesworth from New Scientist and a collection of science cartoons curated by Professor Colin Pillinger (of Mars explorer Beagle 2 fame), all in keeping with this year’s theme of Science – in tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of local boy Charles Darwin.

So, if you’re in the Shrewsbury area between the 23rd and 26th April I’ll be running round town, attending the various workshops, talks and exhibitions. I’ll be twittering and blogging as I go, not to mention videoing, sketching and photographing what I see. There’ll be full coverage over at thebloghorn.org over the weekend, and live commentary on Twitter (follow me at @alexhughes and Bloghorn at @bloghorn), and if I’m not completely blogged out by the end of it all there’ll be a round-up post some time the week after…

If you are going to be around, you may find this Google map that I put together for Bloghorn useful:
