Starting today and running until Sunday the Festival enters it’s seventh year with the theme of Magic, Myth and Mystery. Steve Bell Stole My Eyebrows: The News from the Shrews

As previously mentioned, last weekend was Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival, and what an event it was! Luckily, the predicted storms failed to materialise (aside from a brief shower early on Saturday morning), and the sun shone throughout. Myself, Matt Buck and Royston Robertson were there to blog and twitter for thebloghorn.org, the blog of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation.
It’s that time of year again… cartoonists from all over the country (and the world) will be converging in Shropshire next week for the Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival. Despite my small triumph last year when I sold a cartoon – The Kiss – in one of the exhibitions, I’m not on the ‘official’ list. I will be busy though, as, along with Matt Buck and Royston Robertson, I’ll be blogging for Bloghorn, the blog of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation. Highlights include exhibitions by Steve Bell from the Guardian, Kate Charlesworth from New Scientist and a collection of science cartoons curated by Professor Colin Pillinger (of Mars explorer Beagle 2 fame), all in keeping with this year’s theme of Science – in tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of local boy Charles Darwin.
