Following on from the train derailment the other week it appears that the Custard Factory is becoming a bit of a Bermuda Triangle for public transport. Coming into work today, I saw the aftermath of this single-decker bus colliding with a row of raillings outside the Old Crown, just round the corner from the Factory.

At this point I’m unaware of if anyone was hurt – hope not. Looks like the bus must have been going at a bit of a rate to tear up that much railling though.

Whoa! There’s been a derailment on the approach to Moor Street Birmingham, on the viaduct by the Custard Factory. As you can see from these pics, a freight train has tipped over and smashed the wall of the viaduct right by the offices…

Arrived at work this morning to see the police tape and a pile of rubble, then I looked up…

Here’s the view from one of the upstairs windows – yike!

The shiney metal pile of scrap in the bricks below is (or rather was) some poor soul’s car (thankfully, no-one was injured – it was about 6 in the morning apparently). So, if you’ve ever heard the expression ‘(it) hit me like a ton of bricks’ – that’s what it looks like.
