…and in a puff of smoke, Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival 2010 appears! Starting today and running until Sunday the Festival enters it’s seventh year with the theme of Magic, Myth and Mystery. Like last year I’ll be there alongside Matt Buck (Twitter) and Royston Robertson (Twitter) reporting on all the cartooning fun for Bloghorn, the blog of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation. 28th February 2010 | by Alex
Posted In: News and views

eggheads-400x257As I may have alluded to in another post earlier this year, in February I participated in an episode of the BBC quiz Eggheads, as captain of the Cartoonists team. Well, we’ve finally been given a broadcast date – Tuesday 13th October. That’s right, only three months away… and of course, I still can’t tell you how we did. Read the rest of this entry…

Steve Bell Stole My Eyebrows: The News from the Shrews

1st May 2009 | by Alex

p1000236As previously mentioned, last weekend was Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival, and what an event it was! Luckily, the predicted storms failed to materialise (aside from a brief shower early on Saturday morning), and the sun shone throughout.  Myself,  Matt Buck and Royston Robertson were there to blog and twitter for thebloghorn.org, the blog of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation.

Following on from the successful Dr. Sketchys in November of last year, Birmingham’s burlesque life drawing ‘anti-art’ school returned on Saturday for another afternoon of drawing, drinking and dames. This time, I decided to travel light, leaving the tablet PC at home in favour of sketchbook, pens and pencils. The theme this time was ‘Hollywood Babylon’, and the girls perfomed suitably movie-themed routines.
